Liga de Quito are the Clausura champions and will play the Apertura winners Emelec in the grand final in December. They secured their place in the final with a 3-1 win against El Nacional. They then ensured the Clausura championship on Monday with a 1-1 draw against Deportivo Quiro.

Emelec are now in 2nd position in the Clausura table after a 3-1 win against Espoli.

Deportivo Quito ensured their place in the 3rd place/Copa Libertadores qualification playoff with a 5-0 win against Universidad Cátolica and Barcelona Sporting Club were gifted the other position in the playoff after  LDU's long time title rivals Deportivo Cuenca were hammered 3-0 by bottom of the table Independiente.

All of the issues may be decided at the top of the table but with one round left any two of Espoli, Universidad Cátolica and Macará will be relegated next weekend.

Colombia

The convoluted and unpopular final phase in Colombia is underway. The 8 teams that have qualified are divided into two groups, each team plays the other home and away giving the team that finished 8th in the division the same advantage as the team that finished 1st. The two group winners progress to the final.

In the first round of games the only winners were Deportes Quindío who surprisingly beat Atlético Nacional on their own pitch. The other 3 games were all drawn.
