Highlights: Argentine Primera División, Apertura 2010 - Fecha 13

Jonathan Cristaldo celebrates his vital winner against Banfield.
Friday night featured two convincing wins at either end of the table. In the first game of the night Olimpo showed that they really do have the fighting spirit to try to survive relegation with a 4-0 win against Huracán.

In the second game Estudiantes beat Lanús 3-0 to extend their lead to six points and mount the pressure on Vélez and Arsenal who both face tricky away games later in the weekend.

Saturday's early kick off featured two teams battling to avoid relegation, Gimnasia y Esgrima won 1-0 against Quilmes to break their run of six games without a win and gave themselves a boost. Quilmes are now miles adrift at the bottom of the table and still without a win 13 games into the season.

4th and 5th placed sides Godoy Cruz and Newell's Old Boys fell further behind the leaders after they could only manage a 0-0 draw and 3rd placed Arsenal de Sarandí also dropped points. Despite holding the lead for the majority of the game they ended up with a 2-2 draw against their bigger and more illustrious Avellaneda rivals Racing Club.

In the last game of the day Argentinos Juniors pulled off a great shock result beating Boca Juniors 0-2 with both of the goals coming in the last 5 minutes of the game to stun Boca Juniors Claudio Borghi who had abandoned Argentinos Juniors to join Boca at the end of last season. The one highlight for Boca fans was seeing Juan Román Riquelme return to action, the highlight of his game wad hitting the crossbar trying to score an "Olympic goal" direct from a corner kick. Santiago Gentiletti scored for the visitors after 86 minutes and then Ciro Rius scored his first goal for Argentinos two minutes later to seal a famous away win.

On Sunday All Boys recorded a famous 1-0 win against River Plate, a wonderful result for the club that have been stuck in the lower leagues for the past 30 years. River Plate have now gone seven games without a win and the pressure is mounting on their manager Angel Cappa.

San Lorenzo and Independiente both continued to struggle for form in the league, Independiente are in 18th position and San Lorenzo have only won one of their last six games. Colón are now three games unbeaten after their tonking by Vélez after they took a 1-0 home win against Tigre with an early goal from Mauro Bellone.

The last game of the day was Banfield against Vélez Sársfield which really did live up to expectations, Vélez needed the win to keep the pressure on Estudiantes at the top of the table. They managed it but only just, after taking the lead twice and having the scores levelled up both times by absolute bombasos from Banfield Jonathan Cristaldo finally hit the winner in the 72nd minute for a vital 2-3 away win.
