Fecha 6, Clausura 2011 - Preview and predictions

Preview and predictions for the sixth round of games in the Clausura 2011 tournament.

Preview

There is no Friday night fixture this week because of the midweek Argentina friendly against Venezuela so round six takes a 4-4-2 formation.

The weekend kicks off with a relegation dogfight between Quilmes and Independiente. Quilmes have lost all five of their games so far in the Clausura and Independiente have gone an incredible 22 away games without a victory since a 1-3 win at Banfield on 17 April 2010.

Godoy Cruz will be looking to improve on their poor home form against Lanús, then All Boys will try to re-establish their great home form from the Apertura against Colón.

In the last game on Saturday River Plate will travel to Sarandí to face Arsenal, on a ground on which they have not won since 2006. Another defeat would both ruin River's title ambitions and dump them right back into the relegation battle.

The two biggest games of the weekend will both be played on Sunday. League leaders Racing Club host reigning champions Estudiantes and San Lorenzo host Vélez Sársfield in a game which could determine which of these teams is to make a decent title challenge.

Sunday's other games will see Argentinos Juniors and Newell's Old Boys both trying to recover from disappointing defeats in their last games, then a surprisingly strong Olimpo side travel to Buenos Aires to face struggling Boca Juniors in the Bombonera, the giants from La Boca are down in 18th position after another terrible start to the season.

Monday will feature two more games in the relegation fight, Huracán face a tough trip to Banfield where they have not won since they returned to the Primera División back in 2008 and in the last game Gimnasia y Esgrima will be hoping to escape the automatic relegation places with a home win against Tigre however if Denis Straqualursi plays for Tigre he is fairly likely to score against his former team, such is the way in football.

Predictions

As the results come in I will fill in the actual scores and colour code the predicted scores, green for exact score, yellow for correct result and red for completely wrong. Each green score gets three points, each yellow score gets one point and red scores get nothing.
