Gustavo Toledo golazo contra San Lorenzo
Banfield and San Lorenzo had little but pride to play for when they faced each other during the final round of games in the Clausura 2011 tournament. San Lorenzo needed to win to cut their sequence of six games without a victory but Gonzalo Toledo put Banfield ahead with this magnificent strike. San Lorenzo managed to scramble an equaliser for a 1-1 draw but they still finished the season in terrible form and finished bottom amongst the so called "big five".
Iván Vélez miss against Banfield, Clausura 2011
On 27 March 2011 Independiente hosted Banfield in the seventh round of the Clausura 2011 tournament in Argentina. They had enjoyed only one win in their last nineteen games against fellow Argentine sides. They were one nil up and when Iván Vélez missed this chance. Banfield scored an equaliser later in the game which finished 1-1.

Golazo: Davíd Vega vs Banfield, Clausura 2011
In August 2010 Davíd Vega returned to the Primera División in Argentina with Olimpo de Bahía Blanca after a six year abscence playing in the lower leagues with teams such as Alumni de Villa María and Defensa y Justicia.
On 12 February 2011 in the first round of the Clausura tournament he scored one of the goals of his career with a stunning half volley to equalise against Banfield before team mate Carlos Salom hit a late winner to give Olimpo a vital 2-1 win.
Golazo: Martín Palermo vs Banfield
Martín Palermo recently scored his 300th career goal, 230 of them were for Boca Juniors where he is now the all time top scorer. In Apertura 2004 he scored this chilena against Banfield to end Boca Juniors run of six games without scoring a goal.
He has scored a number of other brilliant goals for the club including this chilena for his 200th Boca Juniors goal, this record breaking header and this spectacular long range strike against Independiente.
Golazo: José Luis Calderón vs Banfield 1997
José Luis Calderón had a professional football career spanning four different decades (1989-2010). He spent the majority of his career in the Argentine Primera División although he did have short spells in Italy and Mexico too. His most famous goal was a brilliant effort in a 4-0 win against Boca Juniors in 1999, however this long forgotten goal from 1997 was another one of his best.
Golazo: James Rodríguez, Banfield vs Lanús, Clausura 2010
On 15 February 2010 the Argentine champions Banfield hosted Lanús (the other team to have won their first Argentine championship in the last few years). The 2nd goal of the game was this classy finish from 18 year old Colombian winger James Rodríguez, who also played a part in the buildup with a caño (nutmeg) and a taco (back-heel).
Banfield couldn't retain their championship, nobody has since Boca Juniors in 2005-06 and Rodríguaz was predictably snapped up by one of the European clubs. In this case FC Porto, where he is currently rotting in the reserves.
En contra: Fabio Segovia, All Boys vs Banfield, Apertura 2010
On 3 December 2010 All Boys hosted Banfield in the 17th round of the Apertura 2010 tournament. The opening goal was this unfortunate own goal from Fabio Segovia who turned a rebound off the post into his own net. All Boys scored a second goal after another rebound off the post before Banfield hit a brilliant consolation goal to make the final score 2-1.

On Saturday 28 November 2010 Banfield hosted Racing Club in the 16th round of the Apertura 2010 tournament in the Argentine Primera Division. All of the goals came in a quickfire five minute spell midway through the first half. Banfield scored a brilliantly worked equaliser but then less than a minute later Claudio Bieler scored the winner after only 24 minutes of the game, a perfect example of a team forgetting the the old managerial plea, "when you've just scored try to keep calm and concentrate".

Game of the week: 11 November 2010 - Banfield 2-3 Vélez Sársfield
Vélez Sársfield were under pressure going into the last fixture of round 13 of the Apertura 2010 championship. The game was a tricky away tie against Banfield and their title rivals Estudiantes had extended their lead at the top to six points earlier in the weekend.
Vélez established the lead twice with goals from Santiago Silva and Juan Manuel Martínez, but Banfield equalised twice with spectacular goals from gabriel Méndez and Marcelo Bustamente. The game winner for Vélez was scored by Jonathan Cristaldo in the 72nd minute.
