Cosas locas: Neymar's shorts

On 28 August 2010 Brazilian wonderkid Neymar lost his shorts in a tackle playing for Santos against Goiás. He came back to haunt them later in the season scoring a 7 minute hat-trick to seal their relegation to Serie B.

What's that old cliche? You're never more vulnerable than when you've just scored.

On Saturday 28 November 2010 Banfield hosted Racing Club in the 16th round of the Apertura 2010 tournament in the Argentine Primera Division. All of the goals came in a quickfire five minute spell midway through the first half. Banfield scored a brilliantly worked equaliser but then less than a minute later Claudio Bieler scored the winner after only 24 minutes of the game, a perfect example of a team forgetting the the old managerial plea, "when you've just scored try to keep calm and concentrate".

Cosas locas: Windy football

In 2008 in an Argentine 2nd division game Instituto goalkeeper Gastón Pezzuti took advantage of the windy conditions in the southern city of Comodoro Rivadavia to score this incredible goal against the home side CAI. Two years later another Instituto goalkeeper found himself playing in similar windy conditions, however this time he was kicking into the wind.

Cosas locas: Windy football 2

The Patagonian city of Comodoro Rivadavio in Chubut is the southernmost city in Argentina to host professional football. It is pretty close to the Antarctic and sometimes it gets pretty windy down there as can be seen in this clip from a game between C.A.I. and Instituto on 20 November 2010. Luiz Felipe Scolari hit by radio thrown from crowd

Luiz Felipe Scolari would have been well chuffed with his side Palmeiras' 0-1 away win against Goiás in the semi-finals of the 2010 Copa Sudamericana thanks to this brilliant strike from Marcos Assunção. He seemed less chuffed to be hit by a portable radio thrown from the Goiás fans given his reaction.

Goalkeeper misjudgement, Sinop vs Operario, Copa Matogrosso

You have to feel a bit sorry for the Sinop goalkeeper in this clip, it was raining heavily, the pitch was covered in standing water and the floodlights didn't seem to be working properly, however it is still hard to fathom how he misjudged the flight of the ball so badly in this game against Opérario in the Copa Mato Grosso which finished 2-1 to Sinop.

On 22 July 2007 Colombian forward David Giraldo made an impression on his debut for Millonarios. He was sent off only 10 seconds after coming on as a substitute.

Cosas locas: Dog interrupts play, England vs Brazil, 1962 World Cup

10 June 1962: Brazil were playing against England in the quarter final of the 1962 World Cup in the Sausalito stadium, Viña del Mar, Chile when a dog got on the pitch. Jimmy Greaves eventually got hold of the dog by pretending to make friends with it. The game resumed and England were beaten 3-1 by Brazil who went on to beat Czechoslovakia 3-1 in the final.

When Fernando Torres scored for Liverpool against Blackburn their Aregntine midfielder Maxi Rodríguez took the opportunity to poke his Greek team mate Sotirios Kyrgiakos in the arse.

Cosas locas: Nani goal against Heurelho Gomes

On 30 October 2010 Brazilian Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Huerelho Gomes conceeded one of the most bizarre and controversial goals of the season to Manchester United's Portuguese winger Nani.

The most bizarre thing about it was not that the referee decided not to book Nani for his blatant dive and/or for his deliberate handball, nor that he decided not to give a free kick to the defending team for either incident. It was the way that he clearly sent all the Tottenham players away so that he could then consult the linesman and Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand about whether he should award the goal. The decision to award the goal was controversial enough but to allow a Manchester United player to get involved in the decision making process was a classic example of the Manchester United refereeing bias that is well known to all fans of English football.

Cosas Locas: Guilherme fall

There is not much to be said about this video of AA Ponte Prete's Guilherme except what a stupid place to put a flight of stairs.

Adílson Batista mad celebration

English football fans have witnessed some great managerial celebrations, Who could forget Sunderland's Bob Stokoe running deleriously across the Wembley pitch in his hat and horrible red trousers in 1973, David Pleat's mad charge across Maine Road celebrating Luton Town's survival at Man City's expense in 1983 or Porto manager José Mourinho's celebrations in the last minute of the game at Old Trafford in 2004.

As great as these celebrations were, none of them could match Cruzeiro manager Adílson Batista for sheer lunacy.

Pigeon killer Aguirre

It was the most important game in the history of Club Atlético Tigre. It was the first leg of the 3 way playoff at the end of the Apertura 2008 championship.There was a huge TV audience for this unexpected pre-Christmas bonus game and they all saw San Lorenzo's Gastón Aguirre kill an innocent pigeon.

For those of you who are actually interested in the football the results were:

Tigre 1-2 San Lorenzo
Boca Juniors 3-1 San Lorenzo
Boca Juniors 0-1 Tigre

Which meant that Boca Juniors won on goal difference, a tad unfair considering that at the end of the regular season San Lorenzo had by far the better goal difference and Tigre had the better head-to-head but they had to play the end of season playoff with Boca Juniors who were awarded the championship on goaldifference after a 3 way tie.
