Rafael Santos own goal vs Grêmio



On 29 May 2011 Rafael Santos scored this unfortunate own goal to give Grêmio a 0-1 win against his side Atlético Paranaense in the 2nd round of the Brasileirão Série A 2011.

Juan Pablo Carrizo own goal vs Boca Juniors, Clausura 2011



On 15 May 2011 Boca Juniors hosted River Plate in the famous Superclásico derby. The visitors were under an enormous amount of pressure lying only one place above the relegation zone, their goalkeeper Juan Pablo Carrizo couldn't have found a worse moment to make one of the biggest errors of his career by knocking a harmless looking cross into is own net. Boca Juniors legendary all time top scorer Martín Palermo scored a second goal to secure the 2-0 win.

En contra: Fabio Segovia, All Boys vs Banfield, Apertura 2010



On 3 December 2010 All Boys hosted Banfield in the 17th round of the Apertura 2010 tournament. The opening goal was this unfortunate own goal from Fabio Segovia who turned a rebound off the post into his own net. All Boys scored a second goal after another rebound off the post before Banfield hit a brilliant consolation goal to make the final score 2-1.

En contra: Leandro Sigali, Godoy Cruz vs River Plate, Apertura 2010



On 17 October 2010 Godoy Cruz hosted River Plate in the Apertura 2010 tournament. The first goal of the game was this unbelievable own goal from Leonardo Sigali. Godoy Cruz recovered to earn a 2-2 draw.

En Contra: Facundo Quiroga bicycle kick own goal for Racing Club



On 28 September 2008 River Plate defender Facundo Quiroga scored one of the truly great own goals with a bicycle kick to start the scoring in an entertaining 3-3 draw with Racing Club.

En Contra: Paulo Sérgio own goal for Ipatinga



This great own goal was scored by Paulo Sérgio in a game between Portuguesa and Ipatinga on 20 November 2010. Fortunately for the 32 year old defender, his team were already 2-0 up and they held on for the win they needed to keep their slim promotion chances alive.

Omar Zarif own goal



Omar Zarif scored a classic own goal to gift Newell's Old Boys a 1-0 win in the Apertura 2009 in Argentina. His team Chacarita Juniors were relegated at the end of the season.

Gastón Aguirre own goal



San Lorenzo player Gastón Aguirre is the first player to appear in the "Cosas locas" section for a second time. The first was for a bit of brutal animal slaughter. This one is for his comically poor attempted clearance which resulted in an own goal for opponents Lanús.
