Cosas locas: Battle of Santiago



To quote David Coleman this "is the most stupid, appalling, disgusting and disgraceful exhibitions of football, possibly in the history of the game". This is Chile vs Italy in the 1962 World Cup, which is more commonly known as the battle of Santiago.

Cosas locas: Dog interrupts play, England vs Brazil, 1962 World Cup



10 June 1962: Brazil were playing against England in the quarter final of the 1962 World Cup in the Sausalito stadium, Viña del Mar, Chile when a dog got on the pitch. Jimmy Greaves eventually got hold of the dog by pretending to make friends with it. The game resumed and England were beaten 3-1 by Brazil who went on to beat Czechoslovakia 3-1 in the final.

Golazo: Pelé, Brazil vs Mexico, 1962 World Cup



Pele missed most of Brazil's 1962 World Cup success because of an injury sustained against Czechoslovakia,  he did leave his mark on the tournament scoring this brilliant goal in Brazil's opening game against Mexico.
