Golazo: Hernán Crespo River Plate vs Sporting Cristal, Copa Libertadores 1996

On 8 May 1996 Argentine giants River Plate faced Peruvian side Sporting Cristal in the second round of the Copa Libertadores. River were 2-1 down from the first leg but put in a huge performance in front of their home crowd at the Estadio Monumental. They won the game 5-2 and progressed to the next round. The highlight of the game was this remarkable "chilena" from a young Hernán Crespo.

River Plate went on to claim their 2nd Copa Libertadores championship, beating América de Cali in the final, the same team they had beaten 10 years previously to win their first Copa Libertadores in 1986.

Hernán Crepso vs Colombia, Pan American games 1995 - Dos sombreros!

This is one of my all time favourite goals. The set up is magnificent from Javier Zanetti with 2 sombreros over the Colombian defenders and then Hernán Crepo's finish is fantastic, he has to take 5 steps backwards to meet the cross, which he does perfectly.

The goal is magnificent in it's execution and it is no surprise that these two players went on to make over 200 appearances for Argentina over the next 15 years.
