Cosas locas: Fluminense vs Cerro Porteño fight

In November 2009 the semi-final of Copa Sudamericana between Brazilian side Fluminense and Cerro Porteño of Paraguay descended into a mass brawl after Fluminense scored 2 goals in injury time in the second leg.

Fluminense progressed to the final, however they were beaten by Ecuadorian side Liga de Quito on penalties in a major continental final for the second time in two years.

Crazy Blooming fan

11 August 2009: Club Blooming of Bolivia were hosting Uruguayan side River Plate de Montevideo in the first round of Copa Sudamericana 2009. In the 66th minute with Blooming losing 0-1 a fan rushed onto the pitch and attacked River Plate's Henry Giménez.

The referee suspended the game and CONMEBOL decided to punish Blooming by awarding the game to River Plate 3-0.
